Initially, Aeroexpress’s Quality Management System was certified for compliance with the International Standard ISO 9001:2008 by an authorised company, Bureau Veritas Certification Rus, in December 2009, at which time it obtained a 3-year certificate.
Since that time, the company has changed dramatically. Last year alone, there was clearly a significant increase in passenger traffic, along with the opening of branches in other Russian cities and the launch of the company’s own subdivision for maintaining and repairing rolling stock (a depot). In addition, locomotive train crews who were previously are of the Moscow Railway’s staff have since become Aeroexpress employees.
Auditors primarily verified the processes associated with passenger transport and services, the Centralised Control Centre’s functioning, procurement and logistics, as well as the maintenance and repair of rolling stock. The Company’s Sochi branch also successfully underwent an audit and was included in the certification’s scope.
ISO 9001 is an International Standard specifying the requirements for the Quality Management Systems of organisations and companies, which was designed by the International Organization for Standardization. Compliance with the ISO 9001 requirements indicates a high level of reliability on the part of the recipient company, the fact that is has implemented modern techniques and practices in its daily activities, and that it significantly influences the company’s reputation on the market in terms of business partnerships. This standard helps companies to formalise their management systems by introducing such backbone concepts as an internal audit, a process approach, as well as corrective and preventive actions.
The new certificate issued to the Aeroexpress company is valid until December 8, 2015.
