Notwithstanding some technical problems with the vehicles, the Aeroexpress Racing Team placed among the podium winners in the previous fifth stage of the LADA Granta Russian Cup, which took place in Kazan. With two races remaining until the season ends, the team currently ranks third in the team classification. The best result in this season was placing second on the Moscow Raceway track.
The sixth stage of the LADA Granta Cup will take place at the Nizhny Novgorod Ring, located 22 km from the city. With the opening of NRing in 2010, Russia can boast another difficult and exciting racing track for all types of circuit car racing, motorcycle racing, drag racing, and karting. The 3,222m circuit track, with elevation changes in excess of ten metres was built according to the FIA standards and can host any competitions, including international races other than Formula 1.
The Aeroexpress Racing Team members describe the ring as an interesting track, requiring high proficiency on the part of the drivers and flawlessness from their cars. The race can be a serious test for the teams and their ranking can change. Track peculiarities and potentially rainy weather on the day of the first race should make for intense competition. The atmosphere is emotionally charged, and the championship is drawing to a close.
