Aeroexpress improves interior of passenger saloons in EMUs to Domodedovo

Jul 17, 2009

LLC Aeroexpress has completed the first stage of work on the re-equipment of the saloon interior of EMU cars on the Paveletsky Railway Station – Domodedovo Moscow International Airport line within the frames of a campaign for better service quality.

New soft armchairs have replaced semi-soft sofas in five express train cars.

A total of 18 Aeroexpress EMU cars will be fitted with new armchair sets by mid-August, 2009.

Five cars of the ED4M (0252, 0254, 0255) model line EMUs under operation on the Paveletsky Railway Station – Domodedovo Airport line have been re-fitted so far. The new passenger seats are in strict line with similar seats installed in other ED4M cars with soft armchairs. The installation of new chairs is done at Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant on the LLC Aeroexpress order.

As Eugene Chelbaev, the LLC Aeroexpress technical director, said, the “repairs of the express trains’ saloons are performed stage-by-stage, which makes the company able to strictly meet the schedule for the trains running between the Paveletsky Railway Station and the Domodedovo Airport according to the current timetable”.

It is noteworthy that Aeroexpress has a total of 19 EMUs of the ED4MKM-AERO, ED4MK, ED4M и EM2I models. Some directions (including the Savyolovsky Railway Station – Sheremetyevo-2 Airport) have only new upgraded trains, model ED4MKM-AERO. The saloons of the trains feature wide and comfortable armchairs, individual illumination for every seat, sophisticated microclimate system, and spacious luggage compartments.
