Aeroexpress Pays over RUB 370,000 to Passengers due to Disruptions on 7 June

Jun 9, 2014

09.06.2014. – Moscow. On 7 June at about 15:30 Moscow Time, the route between Belorussky Rail Terminal and Sheremetyevo Airport was damaged by a lightning strike, which caused a brake in overhead lines, and Aeroexpress services were interrupted. Seven trains were running behind schedule, and three more services had to be cancelled.

Aeroexpress has been practicing such a refund policy for several years now: this involves compensation of the full costs for Aeroexpress train tickets in the case of delays longer than 15 minutes. The company has also voluntarily committed to compensate passengers for the costs of air tickets in the case that they were late for their flights, regardless of the reasons for the failure. As a result of Saturday’s incident, airline tickets with a gross value of RUB 342,855 have been reissued to 18 passengers, and the cost of Aeroexpress train tickets have been refunded to 69 passengers, valued at RUB 26,620.

“Due to Saturday’s disruption, a total of RUB 370,000 has been paid out”, commented Alexey Krivoruchko, CEO of Aeroexpress“Our company’s commitment to paying compensation for air tickets is voluntary, and we consciously decided in favour of this, as concern about our passengers is a priority in our work, and we make every effort to minimize the negative consequences of such incidents.”
