Aeroexpress Wins Best.ru Prize

Nov 26, 2014

26.11.2014. — Moscow. On 25 November, Gostiny Dvor hosted a ceremony where the results of the annual Russian award for public activity — the Best in Russia or Best.ru — were announced. This award honours the outstanding achievements of individual companies, people, as well as the most important events of the year. Aeroexpress won the award in the Transport category, being honoured with such high estimation for having implemented the contactless fare collection technology known as Pay@Gate.

The Best.ru annual award for public activity distinguishes the crème de la crème in the major economic sectors, identifies the most significant social events of the year, and draws attention to those people who have made a special contribution to the country’s development.

This year, Aeroexpress is among the winners: the company was appraised at such a high level for its innovations in the sphere of transport activity — in particular, for the Pay@Gate contactless fare collection service that the company implemented, with support from Visa, in August 2013. The unique technology that makes it possible to pay for an Aeroexpress fare with Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass bank cards in a split second, directly at turnstiles, is very rapidly gaining popularity among the air-rail operator’s passengers. As reported by the company, in the first ten months of this year alone, more than 115 thousand tickets have been purchased using this contactless technology.

“We are pleased to learn that our efforts to make life more comfortable for urban residents has received recognition,” commented Rustam Akiniazov, Chief Commercial Officer of Aeroexpress“The Pay@Gate service introduced by Aeroexpress is the one and only service like this in Russia, as it is still the first-ever experience of this kind, enabling contactless payment on the railway. I would also like to note that, beginning 25 November, Pay@Gate fare collection options have been extended and, from now on, Troika cardholders will also be able to pay for travel at turnstiles. We hope that our practice of introducing innovations to customer service will serve as a good example for other Russian transport companies. We will continue to make every effort to provide our customers with fast, high-quality, and up-to-date tools, and also offer even greater comfort in the provision of our services."
