May 11, 2017

Between April 28 and May 9, Aeroexpress transported 349,255 passengers, which is an increase of 3.4% compared to the same period last year.

The route connecting Paveletsky Rail Terminal and Domodedovo Airport continues to be the most popular among passengers, whose number reached 145,203 people. Passenger traffic for the Sheremetyevo direction amounted at 137,509 travellers. A total of 66,543 people were carried along the route between Kievsky Rail Terminal and Vnukovo Airport. It is noteworthy that, from 5 to 9 May, Aeroexpress transported 157 Great Patriotic War veterans and 70 accompanying people in business class carriages. Company employees presented these veterans special gifts.

Sales through the company’s website recorded growth, with tickets being sold to 63,087 passengers there, which is 34.7% higher than the same period the previous year. The total share of website sales during the May public holidays amounted to 11.2%, exceeding last year’s result by 2.3%. Mobiles app numbers also demonstrated an increase. From 28 April to 9 May, 6.9% of all travellers chose this payment option. When purchasing standard tickets via the website or mobile app, a passenger obtains a discount of RUB 80.

Starting from early 2017, the travel services market has been tending to show a recovery in demand. According to results from the first four months this year, there were 23.85 million passengers transported via airports of the Moscow Air Cluster, representing an increase of 17.8% compared to the same period last year. The highest growth was recorded for Vnukovo Airport due to the extended geographic reach of flights offered by the Pobeda low-cost airline and Rossiya Airlines.

During this period, all Aeroexpress train services ran according to the train timetable. No overload and traffic disruptions were recorded.

During the May public holidays, special attention was paid to safety and security measures aboard all trains and at all Aeroexpress infrastructure facilities. The Joint Dispatching Centre, which monitors all Aeroexpress terminals and trains, operated in a robust mode. Security specialists were working at all of the company’s infrastructure facilities and were accompanied by the canine security service in order to carry out a thorough inspection of the rolling stock.
