Double-deck Aeroexpress vehicles run along the Vnukovo and Domodedovo links. One of the main advantages of the new express trains is their holding capacity. A 6-carriage train offers 700 seats. One single-deck train of 11 railcars can carry around the same number of passengers, providing 697 seats. Currently, four double-deck vehicles run along the Vnukovo route, with seven more operating between Paveletsky Rail Terminal and Domodedovo Airport.
“Double-deck trains are distinguished by their enhanced comfort. Moreover, they can carry more passengers. This is especially important during rush hours and when large-scale events are held in Moscow. This summer Russia is hosting the FIFA World Cup. Preliminary estimates show that Aeroexpress might carry approximately 1.2 million people during the tournament period. With our double-deck trains, we are set on making sure that every trip is convenient and comfortable, even when the number of passengers escalates,” emphasised Aeroexpress COO Valery Fyodorov.
New trains were exclusively manufactured for Aeroexpress by Swiss producer Stadler. They offer all conditions for comfortable journeys, including spacious carriages, additional space to place baggage, and easily adjustable armchairs. Each carriage is furnished with a video system, air-conditioning, sockets, and free Wi-Fi. There is also a special lift for mobility-impaired passengers to move between the train decks.
