Aeroexpress Puts Another Stadler Train into Operation

Jun 18, 2018

The company is putting another double-decker train produced by Stadler into service. As a result, the Vnukovo route will be fully served with double-decker rolling stock.

This happens to be train No.001, which was the first vehicle ever delivered to Moscow from the Stadler plant, based in the Swiss town of Altenrhein. This particular train was used to carry out all certification tests, including the drawbar and energy efficiency, dynamic and structural tests, climate system testing, as well as many others.

Previously, the train was based at the Aeroexpress depot and only ran along the testing site. After it is put into operation on the Vnukovo route, this link will be solely served with double-decker trains.

“Putting another double-decker train into service will allow us to ensure the highest possible level of comfort for passengers travelling from the airport to the city and back again. In addition, the enhanced passenger capacity of Stadler trains will substantially improve the capacity of train services. Thus, we will always be ready to work under conditions of increased passenger flow,” stated the Acting CEO of Aeroexpress Mikhail Kovalsky.

Aeroexpress has been operating eleven double-decker trains along the Domodedovo and Vnukovo links.
