Railway Specialists from Serbia Evaluate Aeroexpress Trains

Aug 22, 2018

A delegation from Railway Infrastructure of Serbia came to examine Aeroexpress rolling stock during their visit to Russia.

The Serbian railway specialists took a demonstration trip on a double-decker train, enjoying a ride from the Kievsky Rail Terminal to Vnukovo Airport. On their way, the guest team was able to evaluate the vehicle’s modern design and comfortable conditions and also learn about some of the peculiarities of operating the train when visiting the driver’s cabin. During the meeting, the head of the Aeroexpress Rolling Stock Technical Development Department told the guests about the cutting-edge control and safety systems the train is equipped with, as well as the subtle aspects of operating and maintaining double-decker trains.

“We are glad to share our experience with our European peers and show an example of the latest technologies in the railway industry, currently being applied by Aeroexpress, in operation. Moreover, our guests were able to estimate the level of service aboard the Aeroexpress train and noticed that the train’s carriages offer passengers excellent travel conditions, including for physically challenged persons. Thus, mobility impaired passengers can use a special lift to move between the floors,” said Grigory Sinitsyn, the head of the Aeroexpress Rolling Stock Technical Development Department.

“We would like to thank Aeroexpress for the opportunity to examine this unique vehicle running between Moscow airports and the city centre. For such a megapolis like Moscow, Aeroexpress double-decker trains with an enhanced level of comfort and capacity entails an effective solution with regards to transport accessibility and time savings in the face of long distances and difficult road traffic issues,” commented one of the delegation members.

As part of their programme, the Serbian specialists also visited Russian Railways’ facilities in Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Rostov-on-Don.

The Railway Infrastructure of Serbia delegation was invited to Moscow by RzhD International, which is a part of the RzhD Group. Since 2014, RzhD International has been carrying out large-scale operations aimed at upgrading and constructing railway infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia.
