41% More Wi-Fi Connections aboard Aeroexpress Trains

Sep 13, 2018

The number of connections to the Wi-Fi network aboard Aeroexpress trains increased by 41% during the first eight months this year, compared to the same period last year, and exceeded the 1.3 million figure, as recorded by Aeroexpress and MaximaTelecom, the Wi-Fi provider for the transport infrastructure of Moscow.

Every sixth passenger, on average, connects to the Wi-Fi network when travelling between the city and the airport.

“One year ago, MaximaTelecom completed large-scale modernization of the Wi-Fi network aboard Aeroexpress trains, including a network audit and equipment upgrade. Moreover, new double-decker trains, running along the Domodedovo and Vnukovo routes since late 2017, were also equipped with the up-to-date wireless network. All these works were carried out as part of 2018 World Cup preparations. This significant increase in the number of Wi-Fi users aboard Aeroexpress vehicles proves the upgraded network has been operating at a high standard,” said Ilya Cherkasov, Chief Infrastructure Business Officer at MaximaTelecom.

It is noteworthy that Internet access is provided by Aeroexpress free of charge along all routes of service. Availability of a high-speed Wi-Fi connection stipulates one of passenger service quality standards. To obtain access to the network, it is a requirement to register and sign in.
