Oct 29, 2018

On October 27, 2018, Aeroexpress greeted the six millionth passenger on board its double-decker train — Olesya Polovnikova, a student heading from Vnukovo Airport to Krasnodar.

Exactly one year ago, the company put its first double-decker train produced by Swiss manufacturer Stadler into operation to serve the route between Kievsky Rail Terminal and Vnukovo Airport. Currently, eleven vehicles of this kind run on the Domodedovo and Vnukovo routes.

“Putting the new trains into service was a strategically important event for our company. Nowadays, double-decker trains enable Aeroexpress to transport more passengers with even better comfort,” said Alina Bisembaeva, CEO of Aeroexpress.

Double-decker trains were designed according to the company’s special technical specifications. They are distinguished by their smooth running and can reach the speed of 160 km/h. All the carriages are equipped with soft reclining seats with easily adjustable armrests, folding tables, sockets, flat screens, Wi-Fi network, and toilets with non-contact systems. For passengers’ comfort, there is an air conditioning system aboard each train that disinfects the air and ensures fresh air intake.

All vehicles have the proper equipment to enhance comfort for physically challenged passengers. There are special ramps for wheelchair users to smoothly board the train from the platform. There are also dedicated spaces to lock wheelchairs. Every train has a carriage with a special lift for disabled passengers to move between the decks.
