Over Twelve Million Passengers Transported by Aeroexpress Double-Decker Trains in Two Years

Oct 28, 2019

Two years ago, the company launched its first double-decker train produced by Swiss manufacturer Stadler to serve the route between the Kievsky Rail Terminal and Vnukovo Airport. Currently, such modern trains serve the Vnukovo and Domodedovo railway links.

The double-decker trains carried 12.6 million passengers since launching. Over 4.5 million and 8 million people travelled aboard double-decker Aeroexpress trains running on the Vnukovo and Domodedovo routes respectively.

Double-decker vehicles were designed following Aeroexpress’ special technical specifications. They are distinguished by their smooth running and can reach the speed of 160 km/h. All the carriages are equipped with soft seats with easily adjustable backs and armrests, folding tables, sockets, flat screens, access to the Wi-Fi network, and toilets with contactless systems. For passengers’ comfort, there is air conditioning aboard all trains that disinfects the air and ensures fresh air intake.

All vehicles have the appropriate equipment to enhance comfort for physically challenged passengers. There are special ramps for wheelchair users to smoothly board the train from the platform. There are also dedicated areas to lock wheelchairs. Every train has a carriage with a special lift for disabled passengers to move between the decks.
