Aeroexpress to Launch Double-Decker Trains along Sheremetyevo Route

Nov 8, 2019

On 9 November, Aeroexpress will put the first double-decker train produced by Swiss manufacturer Stadler into service on the route between the Belorussky Rail Terminal and Sheremetyevo Airport.

The train starts operating at 12:00 and will make several services a day between the Belorussky Rail Terminal and Sheremetyevo Airport. The company is planning to completely replace the rolling stock serving this link before this year ends.

“The number of passengers travelling via Sheremetyevo Airport has been rapidly growing leading to an increase in the number of people using our services along this route. Together with our industry peers from Russian Railways, we have found a solution to put Aeroexpress double-decker trains of enhanced capacity into operation between the Belorussky Rail Terminal and Sheremetyevo Airport. This will make it possible to maintain a high level of travel comfort under the conditions of increasing passenger demand and accomplish our plans regarding further development of the Sheremetyevo route,” said Alina Bisembaeva, CEO of Aeroexpress.

Aeroexpress has been operating eleven double-decker trains.

Modern rolling stock was designed following the company’s special technical specifications. The trains are distinguished by their smooth running. All the carriages are equipped with soft seats with easily adjustable backs and armrests, folding tables, sockets, flat screens, access to the Wi-Fi network, and toilets. For passengers’ comfort, there is air conditioning aboard all trains that disinfects the air and ensures fresh air intake.

Two years ago, the company launched its first double-decker train to serve the route between the Kievsky Rail Terminal and Vnukovo Airport. Later, similar trains started operating on the Domodedovo route. Since then, the Aeroexpress double-decker trains have carried 12.6 million passengers.
